Hello, and welcome to my coffee page. My name is Stephen. I drink coffee; lots of coffee. But I mostly do espressos; lots of espressos. I like to do other things with coffee as well, like roasting it, blending it, and eating it. I'd like to take a paragraph or two to give you some of my insights into coffee.
Following are some of my "favorites":
-Favorite double blends: Kenya/Ethiopia, Mexico/Sulawesi, Costa Rica/New Guinea
-Favorite triple blends: add Columbian to any of the above !
-What kind of roaster do I have?: My new Hearthware roaster and two or three Westbend Hot Air Poppers !
-Where do I get my beans?: Sweet Maria's - Hi Tom !, Palo Alto Coffee Roasting Co., City Bean (L.A.)
-How many states have I had coffee in?: 50
-What's the best state?: Alaska, by far
-What's the highest elevation?: 14,000 ft. in Colorado (try it some time!)
-What's the lowest elevation?: Death Valley -282 ft.
-Favorite coffee memories: many. Coffee on the hood of a rented Ford Explorer in Alaska, getting attacked by bugs; Fresh coffee at 40,000 feet; Pot of old, burnt, black, bitter coffee in a small cafe in the Yukon territory; Coffee at the top of the Grapevine, shivering; Fresh espresso on a mountain biking trip in Canyonlands N.P., Utah; nice Hot coffee in Phoenix in 110 degrees (stove not necessary !); First espresso in French restaurant, c.1980; Getting my La Pavoni Pro in the mail, c.1998 :-); Getting my girlfriend (now wife) a Gaggia Pro grinder, c.4/99 :-); having an espresso in Mozart's favorite cafe in Vienna
